Chromosome 21
Chromosome 21 is one of the 23 pairs of human chromosomes, responsible for carrying genetic information. Abnormalities in chromosome 21, such as trisomy 21, result in Down syndrome. It is the smallest human chromosome, containing approximately 48 million base pairs and around 225 genes, contributing to various biological functions.
