Emphysema is a chronic lung condition part of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). It damages alveoli, reducing oxygen exchange. Symptoms include shortness of breath, coughing, and wheezing. Smoking is a primary cause. Emphysema is irreversible but treatments like bronchodilators, steroids, and lifestyle changes can manage symptoms.
