Epstein-Barr Virus
Epstein-Barr virus is a common herpesvirus responsible for glandular fever. Many people contract Epstein-Barr virus during childhood, often asymptomatically. The virus spreads through saliva and can remain dormant in the body. Epstein-Barr virus is also linked to certain cancers, such as Hodgkin’s lymphoma, and autoimmune diseases. Effective treatments primarily focus on symptom relief.
