Gout
Gout is a form of inflammatory arthritis characterised by sudden, severe pain, swelling, and redness, often in the big toe. It occurs due to the accumulation of urate crystals in the joints, caused by high levels of uric acid in the blood. Risk factors for gout include obesity, diet and genetics.
