HIV/AIDS
HIV/AIDS is a chronic, potentially life-threatening condition caused by the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). It damages the immune system by attacking CD4 cells, leaving individuals susceptible to infections and cancers. HIV/AIDS spreads through blood, sexual contact, and from mother to child during childbirth or breastfeeding. Early treatment extends life expectancy.
