Hypothyroidism is a medical condition where the thyroid gland produces insufficient thyroid hormones. Common symptoms include fatigue, weight gain, and depression. It is often diagnosed through blood tests measuring thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) levels. Treatment usually involves daily intake of synthetic thyroid hormone levothyroxine to normalise hormone levels effectively.
