Placental Abruption
Placental abruption occurs when the placenta detaches from the uterine wall prematurely, which can compromise the baby’s oxygen and nutrient supply. Causes include high blood pressure, trauma, or substance abuse. Symptoms of placental abruption are vaginal bleeding, abdominal pain, and uterine tenderness, requiring immediate medical intervention.
