Mike performs: complex sports injury meniscal repairs tendon preserving (anterior cruciate ligament) ACL techniques partial joint replacement/resurfacing fully bespoke computer-aided design joint replacements (where applicable) Mike is proficient in all the latest technical advances in knee sports injury repair, and is referred cases by colleagues which require complex reconstruction. He receives referrals from knee specialists for assessment of all types of partial knee replacement. Mike’s hip practice is focussed entirely on total hip replacement with a particular interest in intra-operative techniques to preserve hip biomechanics. Background Mike studied medicine at Oxford University. His surgical training started in Guy’s and St. Thomas’ hospitals, followed by an invaluable post in a major trauma centre in Cape Town, South Africa. Specialist training continued on the South West London rotation, followed by two UK specialist knee and hip surgery fellowships where Mike was able to develop his skills, working with internationally renowned specialists, in uni-compartmental, total/revision knee replacement, and sports knee surgery. Mr Templeton-Ward has been fellowship trained in both partial and total knee replacement surgery. These types of surgery include patient-matched, and robotic-assisted, total and revision knee replacement. He has a sub-specialist interest clinic in patellofemoral instability and anterior knee pain. Mr Templeton-Ward also provides a tertiary referral service for complex multi-ligament injury of the knee, and other knee surgeons regularly refer patients to him from around the region. Background Mr Templeton-Ward attended Nottingham University Medical School and his surgical and orthopaedic training was carried out in London and the south east of England. Following this he carried out 15 months of sub-specialist knee fellowship training, initially under Mr. Neil Bradley, at Royal Surrey County Hospital Guildford, where he was trained in partial, total and revision knee replacement surgery. He went on to study further in Sydney, Australia, on the internationally recognised and highly sought-after fellowship with Dr. David Wood, President of the Australian Knee Society. This fellowship covered complex multi-ligament reconstruction surgery and patellofemoral instability.

He carries out revision hip surgery for failed hip replacements, including hip resurfacing. For the knee Kerry performs: arthroscopy meniscal resection and repair anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction uni-compartment knee replacement total knee replacement (TKR) osteotomy He treats fractures of both the upper and lower limbs using surgical and less invasive methods. Background Mr. Acton attended St. George’s Hospital Medical School, London, and undertook orthopaedic training in London and the south east of England. He then went on to sub-specialty training in cementless and revision hip surgery during a one year Furlong Fellowship on the south coast. Mr. Acton has delivered prize-winning presentations at academic meetings and published research in peer-reviewed journals. During his training he sat on the Royal College of Surgeons Specialist Advisory Committee for Orthopaedics, as well as the Intercollegiate Board, overseeing the FRCS (Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons) exam. Completing his years as a junior doctor at the Royal Surrey County Hospital Guildford, he then spent a year learning techniques in plastic surgery. His orthopaedic training was in south west London, before winning a prestigious hand and shoulder surgery fellowship at the Wrightington Upper Limb Unit, Manchester. In 2007 he was made a consultant at Wrightington, where he routinely treated complex and tertiary hand, elbow and upper limb disorders from the north west of England. He returned to Guildford in 2010 to take up a consultant post at the Royal Surrey County Hospital. In addition to his surgical qualifications, he holds a BSc in medical physics and is an honorary senior lecturer in orthopaedic management at Salford University. He is widely published in the medical journals and a member of the Ascension Orthopaedics product development team for new joint replacements in the hand and wrist. Mr. Hearnden also lectures nationally and internationally on upper limb surgery.

Background Mr. Way attended Sheffield University Medical School and did his basic surgical training at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, Stanmore, the Northwick Park Hospital, Harrow, and the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, Queen Square. He studied for his MSc in Surgical Sciences at University College London and then went on to Higher Surgical Training at Barts and the Royal London Hospital. Her specialist interests include neuropathic pain, spinal pain, pain-relieving injections and cancer pain. Additionally she carries out RF (radio frequency) denervation and ablative procedures. Daniela also has an interest in pain psychology and the mindfulness-based techniques that can be used to deal with it. As and where appropriate, she can discuss with patients the viability of and how to access additional sources of pain-relief support, such as physiotherapy, osteopathy and acupuncture. Dr. Tonucci also treats those with nerve pain (neuropathy), and fibromyalgia, partly expressed as pain that can be felt anywhere in the body for which there is not one or no clear-cut cause. Background Dr. Tonucci graduated from Bristol University in 1995 and went on to undertake structured pain training at the Royal United Hospital, Bath. She continued advanced pain training with a senior fellowship at the Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, London, and gained a Fellowship of the Faculty of Pain Medicine of the Royal College of Anaesthetists. Daniela also has formal training in interventional spinal procedures. During her career in anaesthesia and pain medicine, Dr. Tonucci has gained valuable experience in general medicine and paediatrics, including a year in Sydney, Australia, specialising in anaesthesia and intensive care medicine.

Here he further developed from a high volume tertiary centre renowned for complex primary and revision shoulder and elbow arthroplasty as well as complex soft tissue reconstruction cases. Andrew now helps run the Shoulder and Elbow Fellowship programme at the Royal Surrey Hospital, responsible for training fully qualified orthopaedic surgeons to become shoulder and elbow surgeons.

Alex has extensive, high level fellowship training from the world-renowned Perth Orthopaedic Sports Medicine (POSM) group in Western Australia in 2014 and latterly in the UK working in Brighton and Surrey alongside three past presidents of the British Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society. Alex returned to his family home county of Surrey in 2016 with his consultant appointment to The Royal Surrey Foundation Trust, Guildford. In addition to his established Foot and Ankle practice Alex is the Clinical Director for Trauma. In this role he takes pride in developing practice and supporting colleagues from many departments in addition to his own. He is actively involved in education both locally and nationally and helps coordinate the South London, Kent, Surrey & Sussex registrar teaching programme to train the next generation of orthopaedic surgeons.
